Livistona australis is a tall palm tree that can grow up to 60 feet (18 meters) in height. It has a slender trunk that is often covered with persistent leaf bases, giving it a characteristic "cabbage" appearance. 

The palm's leaves are fan-shaped and can reach lengths of 3 to 6 feet (1 to 2 meters). The leaf segments are divided, giving the foliage a lush and attractive texture.

The fruit of the Cabbage Tree Palm is a small, round, and berry-like drupe that turns from green to black as it matures.
