How To Grow
Riotously Colourful Variegated Foliage in a Single Plant
Coleus Rainbow Mix (Plectranthus scutellarioides, formerly Coleus blumei) is a striking ornamental foliage plant grown for its dazzling, variegated leaves in vivid combinations of red, green, pink, yellow, purple, and magenta. Unlike flowering annuals, Coleus delivers its colour year-round through its leaves — making it perfect for shaded balconies, indoor decor, mixed containers, and shady garden corners where most flowers struggle.
Fast-growing, easy to start from seed, and tolerant of partial shade — Coleus is one of the most rewarding decorative plants for Pakistani gardens, especially balconies and indoor spaces.

Growing in Pakistan
Coleus is a warm-season foliage plant that thrives in Pakistani heat with some afternoon shade. For Punjab, Sindh, and most plain regions, sow from February–May for spring through autumn foliage. In cooler northern hill areas (Murree, Swat, Hunza), sow March–June. Coleus likes warmth (18–25°C) for germination — light helps so don't bury the tiny seeds. Provide rich, moist (but well-drained) soil and morning sun with afternoon shade. Pinch growing tips for bushier plants and pinch off any flower spikes to keep foliage vibrant.
