Yes. Compact flowers like petunia, pansy, marigold, dianthus and portulaca do very well in pots. Use a light potting mix, make sure pots drain well and give plants at least 5–6 hours of sunlight.

Sprinkle tiny seeds on the surface of moist seed-starting mix in seedling trays and press them lightly — do not bury them deep. Keep the mix moist with a spray bottle and transplant seedlings once they have 3–4 true leaves.
