Flavour Tip
Russian Tarragon has a milder flavour than French Tarragon. To intensify the anise flavour, use leaves just before flowering when essential oil content peaks. Infuse leaves in white wine vinegar for 2 weeks for a classic tarragon vinegar.

Russian Tarragon Herb Seeds

Grow Russian Tarragon — a hardy, drought-tolerant perennial herb with a mild anise-liquorice flavour used in French-inspired cooking. Excellent in chicken and fish dishes, egg preparations, herb vinegars, and béarnaise sauce. Hardier and more adaptable than French Tarragon, making it the practical choice for Pakistan’s climate. Russian Tarragon is the only tarragon that can be grown from seed.

How To Grow

Sow Russian Tarragon seeds 1/8 inch deep in well-drained fertile soil. Keep at 15—22°C; germination in 10—14 days. Space 15—18 inches apart. Russian Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus var. inodora) is seed-grown and hardier than French Tarragon but has a milder, less complex anise flavour. Use fresh leaves in chicken dishes, egg recipes, vinegar infusions, and sauces. For strongest flavour, use young fresh leaves.
