Growing & Cooking Tip
The dark warty skin is completely normal and a sign of the superior flesh quality — do not mistake it for disease. Harvest when the skin has turned fully grey-blue-green and the stem is dry. Flesh is very dry, making it ideal for thick halwa without excess liquid.

How To Grow

Sow Marina di Chioggia seeds 1 inch deep directly in warm fertile soil or start indoors 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Germination in 7—14 days at 22–28°C. Space 4–5 feet apart. Marina di Chioggia is a Venetian heirloom producing large round pumpkins of 5–10 kg with distinctive dark blue-green warty skin and extraordinarily dense, super-sweet, dry orange flesh. The flesh is drier and sweeter than any standard pumpkin — the benchmark for pumpkin halwa and gourmet soups.
