Garden soil alone gets heavy and compacted in containers. Use a light, well-draining potting mix that holds moisture but lets excess water escape, usually a blend of compost, cocopeat or peat moss, and perlite. See our potting & soil media.

Start with compost or vermicompost when planting to build healthy soil. Once plants are growing, feed leafy crops with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Flowering and fruiting plants need more phosphorus and potassium. Always follow the dose on the label, because too much fertilizer can burn roots. Browse fertilizers & nutrients.

Fabric grow bags let air reach the roots and drain very well. This prevents waterlogging and stops roots from circling. They're lightweight, foldable and good for rooftops. They do dry out faster in Pakistan's summer heat, so check moisture more often. Shop grow bags.

Herbs, lettuce and leafy greens grow well in small, shallow containers. Tomatoes, chillies, brinjal and other fruiting vegetables need larger, deeper containers so the roots have room. Bigger containers also hold moisture longer in hot weather.

Seedling trays let you start many seeds in a small space and control moisture. Healthy seedlings then move to pots or beds when they have 3–4 true leaves. This saves seeds and gives stronger plants. See our trays & planters.

Check the undersides of leaves regularly, remove badly affected leaves, and avoid overwatering, which encourages fungus. For mild problems, organic options like neem-based sprays are a good first step. Always read the label and use a separate sprayer for treatments. Shop pest & disease control.
