How To Grow

African Marigold 'Moonlight' (Tagetes erecta) is a tall heirloom variety prized for its rare, soft creamy-white double blooms — a striking contrast to traditional yellow and orange marigolds. Sow seeds at ¼ inch (0.5 cm) deep in well-draining, fertile soil. Germination takes 5–10 days at 22–25°C. Once seedlings have 3–4 true leaves, transplant 12–16 inches apart in full sun (6+ hours daily). Plants grow tall (24–36 inches) so stake or pinch tips to encourage branching and prevent flopping. The large vanilla-cream double blooms (8–10 cm) are exceptional cut flowers and shine in bridal arrangements, white-themed gardens, and night gardens (visible in moonlight). Feed monthly with balanced NPK, water deeply at the base, and deadhead regularly.
