Organic Asparagus Seeds - Heirloom

Organic heirloom asparagus is a long-lived perennial crop for a permanent kitchen-garden bed. In Pakistan it performs best where plants receive a cool winter rest, full sun during the growing season and reliable irrigation without waterlogging.

Sow in the cool season in plains or in spring after severe frost in the hills. Seed-grown asparagus requires patience: establish strong crowns and fern growth before beginning a light harvest in the third season.

How To Grow

1. Soak seeds in clean water for 12–24 hours. 2. Sow 1–1.5 cm deep in a nursery tray or finely prepared bed at 18–25°C. 3. Keep evenly moist; germination may take several weeks. 4. Give seedlings full light and good airflow. 5. Transplant sturdy seedlings 30–45 cm apart into a deep, fertile, permanent bed with excellent drainage. 6. Irrigate deeply, control weeds and mulch lightly, keeping mulch away from young stems. 7. Allow fern growth to develop fully and avoid meaningful harvest for the first two seasons. 8. In Pakistan’s plains sow mainly October–November or late January–February; in hills sow March–April after severe frost.
