How To Grow

Sow Alficoz seeds 1/2 inch deep in warm soil or start indoors 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Germination in 5–10 days at 25–30°C. Train on a trellis, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Alficoz (also called Pepino de Agua or Water Cucumber) is a Spanish heirloom from Valencia producing oval to pear-shaped pale yellow-green fruits. Very high water content, mild sweet flavour, and extremely refreshing — traditionally eaten as a thirst-quenching fruit in Mediterranean summers.
