SHOP NOWGrow a living wall of sunflowers with King Kong Hybrid Sunflower Seeds (Helianthus annuus). This towering F1 hybrid is the most architectural sunflower in our catalog — plants reach a massive 8–15 ft (96–180 inches), and unlike American Giant's single-headed habit, King Kong branches heavily with multiple flowers stretching up and down each stem. Grow it as a single statement specimen, or plant a row for an awe-inspiring sunflower hedge.
Why You'll Love King Kong
- Towering 8–15 ft height — one of the tallest sunflowers you can grow
- Heavily branching habit — flowers all the way up and down each stem
- Bright golden-yellow petals with a dark face
- F1 hybrid — uniform height, vigour, and bloom production
- Perfect for sunflower hedges, garden walls, and statement backdrops
- Late maturity — extends your sunflower season after early varieties finish
- Strong stems that stay upright even at full height
- Pollinator magnet — produces pollen, so beloved by bees, butterflies, and seed-eating birds
Growing in Pakistan
King Kong is a warm-season annual that thrives in Pakistan's spring and summer months. Sow February to April in plain regions (Punjab, Sindh) for tall summer specimens. In cooler northern hill areas, sow April to June. Direct-sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost — these giants need rich, deep soil to support their height. Space plants 24–36 inches apart for full hedge effect, or 5–6 ft apart for single statement specimens. Germination takes 7–10 days at 68–77°F (20–25°C). Water deeply and consistently — tall plants need plenty of moisture. For a denser hedge wall, pinch plants when they reach 5 ft to encourage even more side-branching. Stake or shelter from strong winds in exposed sites.
