This F1 hybrid is famous for producing massive, sturdy plants that tower over the garden — with single, golden-yellow heads up to 12–16 inches across on strong, upright stems. The classic show-stopper sunflower for big summer impact.
Why You'll Love American Giant
- Towering 10–14 ft (3–4 m) plants — a true "giant" sunflower
- Huge golden-yellow heads, 12–16 inches (30–40 cm) across
- F1 hybrid — uniform height, large flower size, and reliable performance
- Strong, thick stems that resist lodging and high winds
- Pollinator magnet — attracts bees, butterflies, and seed-eating birds
- Perfect for back-of-border, fence lines, sunflower walls, and impressive single specimens
- Edible seed heads at the end of the season — great for bird feed or roasting
- The go-to variety for fairs, contests, and "how tall did yours grow?" competitions
Growing in Pakistan
American Giant is a warm-season annual that thrives in Pakistan's spring and summer months. Sow February to April in plain regions (Punjab, Sindh) for tall summer specimens, and August to September for an autumn show. In cooler northern hill areas, sow April to June. Direct-sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost — these giants need rich soil to support their size. Space plants 18–24 inches apart so each plant has room to develop its full height and head size. Germination takes 7–10 days at 68–77°F (20–25°C). Water deeply and consistently — tall plants need plenty of moisture. Stake or shelter from strong winds if your site is exposed.
