Pinch out flower spikes the moment they appear β€” once basil flowers, leaf production stops and flavour declines sharply. Pinch weekly for the longest possible harvest. Harvest in the morning when essential oil content is highest.

BASIL Edible Flower Seeds

Grow Basil (Ocimum basilicum) β€” Pakistan’s most essential summer herb, producing abundantly fragrant leaves for pasta, chutneys, salads, and fresh garnishes. The cornerstone of Italian and South Asian cooking. Grows fast, produces prolifically, and improves in flavour when harvested regularly. A warm-season annual that thrives on Pakistan’s hot summers β€” plant after the last cold of February in the plains for a full season harvest through autumn.

How To Grow

Sow Basil seeds 1/4 inch deep in warm, moist potting mix. Germination in 5–7 days at 20–24Β°C. Do NOT sow in cold soil β€” basil blackens and dies below 15Β°C. Start indoors 4–6 weeks before the last cool weather, or direct sow once temperatures are reliably warm. Thin or transplant to 8–12 inches apart. Pinch out flower spikes as soon as they appear to keep plants bushy and productive. Harvest leaves from the top down, never stripping a plant bare. The more you harvest, the bushier basil becomes.
