How To Grow

Sow Carolina Reaper seeds 1/4 inch deep in moist seed-starting mix. Keep at 27–30°C for 14–35 days — germination is slow. Use a heat mat if possible. Start indoors 12–14 weeks before transplanting. Transplant when seedlings are 6–8 inches tall. The Reaper produces deeply wrinkled red pods with a distinctive scorpion tail — bumpy, gnarly, and terrifyingly hot. Requires a full long summer season to fully ripen. Grow as a novelty, for extreme hot sauce, or for the ultimate chili challenge.
