Deep Soil Requirement
Cylindra requires deep, loose, stone-free soil — at least 12 inches deep. Rocky or compacted soil causes forked, misshapen roots. Loosen soil deeply and remove stones before sowing. Harvest when roots reach 15—20 cm length for peak tenderness.

Heirloom Beetroot (Chukander) Seeds – Beterraba Cylindra

Grow Beetroot Beterraba Cylindra — a unique cylindrical heirloom beetroot producing long, smooth, carrot-shaped roots that give perfectly uniform round slices from top to bottom — the ideal beetroot for salads, pickling, and canapé presentation. Superior yield per plant than round varieties due to the elongated root. Sweet, tender flesh with deep crimson colour. Grow in deep, loose soil for best results.

How To Grow

Soak Cylindra Beetroot seeds 12 hours before sowing. Direct sow 1/2 inch deep in cool, deep, loose fertile soil — Cylindra develops a long tapering root so requires at least 12 inches of loose, stone-free soil depth. Germination in 7—14 days. Thin to 3–4 inches. Cylindra produces distinctively cylindrical roots, 15—20 cm long, ideal for uniform round slicing for salads and pickling. Each slice is the same diameter from top to bottom.
