Okra ( Bhindi ) Desi Selected Seeds

Grow Desi Okra (Bhindi) — one of the most heat-loving and easiest summer vegetables to grow in Pakistan. Tall upright plants produce abundant tender green pods continuously from early summer through autumn. Fresh Bhindi picked from your own plant has far superior flavour and texture to market okra. Essential for Pakistani bhindi masala, bhindi gosht, and stir-fries. Direct sow once the soil is warm.

How To Grow

Soak Bhindi seeds in water for 12–24 hours before sowing to improve germination. Sow 1/2 inch deep directly in the ground or in deep containers, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Okra can be direct sown once soil is warm (25–35°C). Germination in 7–14 days. Plants grow tall and upright — 3 to 6 feet in a full season. Harvest pods every 2–3 days when 5–8 cm long and still tender. Pods toughen and become fibrous very quickly if left on the plant.
